-NAACP's Spingarn Medal, their highest award, in 1979

-NAACP's Martin Luther King Sr. Award in 1980.

-Inducted to the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame in 1983.

-The Rosa Parks Peace Prize in 1994.

-The Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1996.

-The International Freedom Conductor Award in 1998.

-The Congressional Gold Medal, the highest award from the legislative branch, in 1999.

-Time magazine's 20 most influencial people of the 20th Century in 1999.

-Alabama Academy of honor in 2000.

-The first Governor's Medal of Honor for Extraordinary Courage in 2000 (Alabama).

-The Rosa Parks Libary and Mueseum in Montgomery was dedicated to her in 2001.

-An Academy Award Nomination for Documentry Short Subject ("Mighty Times: The Legacy of Rosa Parks").

-The first woman, second non-government official, and the second African-American to lie in state at the Capitol Rotunda.
