Mohandas K. Gandhi

Today Gandhi is one of the most admired figures in the world - even in England, which he fought. He has been a symbol for tolerance and non-violent solutions for problems. A lot of politicians and people have been inspired from his ideas.
Gandhi's principals which many follow today:

Truth: Truth is Satya. Satya is God. Truth is God.

"The Truth is far more powerful than any weapon of mass destruction".

Nonviolence:
*"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall -- think of it, ALWAYS."
*"What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty and democracy?"
*"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind".
*"There are many causes that I am prepared to die for but no causes that I am prepared to kill for".

Vegeterianism:
Gandhi experimented with diets and found a vegetarian diet was the best for his body.

Simplicity:
A person involved in social service should lead a simple life.

Faith:
All religions are equal. The core of every religion is truth and love.

Brachmacharya:
It is control of the senses in thought, word and deed. It is used to purify the soul. Ghandi saw it as going close to God.
